What is Clinical Pilates?

The DMA Clinical Pilates program was developed by Craig Philips, an Australian physical therapist and former dancer. This form of pilates extracts from traditional pilates exercises and using evidence-based principles, builds these exercises into an application to help people with injuries.

A thorough functional assessment is completed to diagnose issues and to guide the selection of appropriate exercises to treat specific injuries, postural imbalances and movement dysfunctions. Proper muscle recruitment and movement pattern is emphasized over strength.

“Pilates has been a valuable tool for many of my clients. Its unique combination of core strengthening, flexibility, and low-impact exercise makes it suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and can be easily adapted to meet invidiual needs. Many patients find it to be a beneficial addition to their conditioning routine, offering something different from their usual gym workouts or other sporting activities. The emphasis on core strength, eccentric control, and body awareness helps improve movement quality, posture and overall functional performance.
