What is Clinical Pilates?
The DMA Clinical Pilates program was developed by Craig Philips, an Australian physical therapist and former dancer. This form of pilates extracts from traditional pilates exercises and using evidence-based principles, builds these exercises into an application to help people with injuries.
A thorough functional assessment is completed to diagnose issues and to guide the selection of appropriate exercises to treat specific injuries, postural imbalances and movement dysfunctions. Proper muscle recruitment and movement pattern is emphasized over strength.

Main Benefits of Clinical Pilates
- Working one-on-one with a registered physiotherapist who will customize a pilates program for your needs and concerns

Read Winnie’s reflection on how Clinical Pilates has helped her clients in her 25+ year career:
“Pilates has been a valuable tool for many of my clients. Its unique combination of core strengthening, flexibility, and low-impact exercise makes it suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and can be easily adapted to meet invidiual needs. Many patients find it to be a beneficial addition to their conditioning routine, offering something different from their usual gym workouts or other sporting activities. The emphasis on core strength, eccentric control, and body awareness helps improve movement quality, posture and overall functional performance.“

How is Clinical Pilates billed to insurance?
Clinical Pilates is a physiotherapy treatment which can be billed to your extended health insurer (our clinic offers direct billing to most insurers which saves you some work). Your treatment is led one-on-one by registered physiotherapist Winnie Chan.
